In the last contract year, Volunteer Centers of Washington Members connected almost 10,000 volunteers, for a total of over 250,000 hours.  For data on Washington state overall and how we rank in the country, see the links below.

Volunteering in America

Overall, in Washington in 2016, 31% of residents volunteered, ranking the state 16th among the 50 states and Washington, DC.  This is down from a high of 9th in the nation in 2013, and computes to:

  • 1.6 million volunteers
  • Almost 2 million hours of service
  • $5 billion of service contributed
