Invitation to Help Build the
Washington State Service Plan 2010-2012

Overview

The WA Commission for National and Community Service and the WA State Office of the Corporation for National and Community Service are inviting those who are interested to help shape a statewide service plan.  Participants will explore needs that can be addressed by service and volunteerism and offer comments on how national service resources can be utilized over the next three year planning period.  Comments will be integrated into approaches designed to utilize service as a strategy to address critical needs throughout the state.  This process may also identify emerging needs specifically associated to the downturn in the economy and focus on potential approaches that begin to help address those needs.  In addition, this process will identify ways that baby boomers and individuals over 55 can play an active role in addressing community needs.  The resulting plan will serve as a guidepost for future programs and investments of resources that support service and volunteerism activities.

Continuous comments can be offered to the WA Commission for National and Community Service by visiting the Commission web page www.ofm.wa.gov/servewa and going to the State Service Plan page.

Comments received/offered in the meetings, via the statewide conference call, and received through the Commission web page by October 25, 2009 will be considered for the plan.
